Today sees the launch of the “Safe in Warks” blog. We hope that this will become a useful platform for community safety news and advice for the residents of Warwickshire. Our aim is to post regular updates highlighting what we have been up to around the county and give handy hints and tips on how residents can keep themselves and their property safe. As this is the first blog it seems like the perfect opportunity to introduce the team and let people know a bit more about what exactly we do here in Warwickshire.
Who we are:
We are a small team made up of a Team Leader and 4 Community Safety Project Officers. Members of the team have varied backgrounds but all have significant experience in dealing with crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. Nadine Dransfield is the Team Leader and is responsible for some local delivery in the north of the county. Helen Earp is responsible for projects in Nuneaton and Bedworth andNorth Warwickshire. Paul Collett covers Rugby and between them Martyn Stephens and Paul Ledden deliver projects inSouth Warwickshire.
What we do:
Ultimately the team’s remit is to reduce crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour through delivery of projects at a local level. What this means in practice is that they lead on a range of initiatives to address problems in key area. This can be about reducing repeat victims of domestic burglary, developing multi-agency action plans to tackle anti-social behaviour or delivering advice on how to avoid becoming the victim of vehicle crime, to name just a few. We will tell you more about local projects in future blogs, in the mean time this link will take you to an audioboo which gives more details of what the team do and how they link in with partners and members of the community.

This blog will also be a forum to share news and updates from colleagues in Warwickshire County Council’s Community Safety Team including information and advice on community concerns with far reaching consequences such as domestic abuse and substance misuse.
Much of what we do involves other agencies so we will also try to keep you informed about how we work together to tackle antisocial behaviour and help residents to feel safer.
