A wheelie bad idea… #theft #neighbourhoodwatch

Break inBeware – wheelie bins are used by burglars

Warwickshire’s Community Safety Project Officers have reported that a burglar used a wheelie bin to aid his access into a property last weekend

Help us to prevent this from reoccurring:

Make sure your wheelie bin is stored in a safe place out of the sight of burglars
Remove your bin from the front of your property as soon as possible after collection

The bins can be used in the following ways:

An indicator as to whether you are at home
A climbing aid to gain access to your property
A removal aid to take the items that they have stolen away
To find out information about you that you may not have destroyed
To find out if you have recently purchased expensive or valuable items
To start small fires

The Neighbourhood Watch scheme plays an important part in preventing crime and can help people feel more secure in their community. To find out more about Neighbourhood Watch, email watch@warwickshire.police.uk or visit Neighbourhood Watch
