The first of two bike marking events took place in the town centre of Nuneaton today 18th Feb.. The police town centre Safer Neighbourhood Team had a stall in the market and spoke to the public about security of pedal cycles at home and while out and about. Free bike marking kits were handed out and the more expensive bikes were marked with special ‘Bikeregister’ kits and the bikes will be added to The National Cycle Database at www.bikeregister.com
Over 30 bikes were marked and the team are looking forward to having the same success on Saturday morning from 10a to 1p when they will again be on a town centre market stall. Pop down and speak to the team who have information to hand out and will mark bikes free of charge.
Martyn Stephens WCC Community Safety Project Officer ‘I am pleased to be able to assist the Safer Neighbourhood Team with the equipment to run the events and support the initiative to reduce bike theft and raise awareness with the local community. We will be carrying out more events in the coming weeks and will publish the dates’
