#Theft down but #sexual and #violent crime rises on region’s #railways – BTP
In the Midlands there was a 17 per cent rise in the number of violent crimes reported and sexual offences went up by 11.1 per cent. However, crime on the whole has fallen over the last year, says a report by British Transport Police.
The increase in reported sexual assaults could be because in 2015, in conjunction with key partners, BTP launched ‘Report It to Stop It’, a high-profile campaign aimed at empowering people to report any instances of sexual offences on trains and tubes.
If you do become a victim of crime it is important that you ask for help and report it. You can call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016. In an emergency, dial 999. More info here
