#Phishing #frauds – up 21% in a year

The number of victims of phishing frauds rose 21% in just a year, a report found. Fraudsters posed as major brands such as BT, Apple and Tesco to trick 95,556 people into handing over personal details last year, up from 75,490 in 2014. And the scams cost the victims £174.4million. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau is joining forces with the banks to warn of the dangers. They are urging people to be wary of unexpected emails, such as invoices from iTunes, BT account updates or Sky services upgrades.
