#Nuneaton and #Bedworth police and firefighters team up to tackle #arson
Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have teamed up to remind people of the dangers of deliberately starting blazes.
Chief Inspector Emma Bastone warns culprits of the consequences.
Arson is a serious criminal offence which can cause serious damage and risk lives. Every year, a substantial amount of the police and fire service’s resources are required to attend to small fires which have been intentionally started and then escalated into something more serious.
For offenders, an arson conviction can have long-term implications for the future. A conviction will stay on an offender’s record for the rest of their life and is likely to affect any future job prospects, as well as preventing the person from ever travelling to certain countries, including the USA.
We would urge anyone thinking about starting a fire to think about the consequences before lighting the match. If anyone does see any suspicious behaviour or witnesses arson taking place, please call police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
