Mobile upgrade scam leaves residents paying for two phones!
Warwickshire consumers are warned to beware of bogus phone calls from people falsely claiming to be their mobile phone provider.
One Warwickshire resident reported receiving a phone call from someone who claimed to be calling from EE, offering an upgrade to his mobile phone. The consumer agreed the contract but when the phone later arrived he realised that his contract was not with EE at all but with another company, leaving him paying contracts for two separate mobile phones!
Despite cancelling the new contract, the bogus trader continued to take money from his account.
Never agree to buy goods or services from cold callers. If you think an offer is genuine, ask to phone back via a publicly listed telephone number.
