Cyber Safe Warwickshire

Cyber Safe Warwickshire was a campaign developed some years ago to raise the awareness of cyber-crime and focused on Scam and Cyber Fraud along with other areas of cyber dependant crimes. Examples included;
- Hacking- unauthorised access to a computer
- Malware/viruses - developing or spreading malicious software for financial gain
- Computer Misuse Act offences- actions that violate the integrity, confidentiality or availability of data and systems.

In more recent times cyber enabled crime has become the focus of Cybersafe with staff being asked to provide information to a range of people on the dangers of technology being used as a tool or facilitator. Examples being;
- identity theft - stealing personal information using online methods
- Cyberbully/Trolling – harassment or abusing individuals on social media platforms
- Online Grooming – exploitation of children and other vulnerable people through online communications.
The cybersafe website has been moved onto the Safein Warwickshire platform and heading in the new direction of Online Grooming and the dangers online that lead to exploitation.
Cyber Safe Warwickshire supports the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioners new Police and Crime Plan 2025-2029. There are 12 priorities which are grouped under three key pillars. One of the pillars is Safeguarding People – tackling abuse and exploitation.
The pillars are supported by five foundational themes one of which is crime prevention. The link below takes you to that plan.
